Michael J. Perez, Associate

Michael J. Perez graduated from Drew University with a B.A. in Philosophy and a minor in Political Science. After college, Michael joined the AmeriCorps Access to Justice program where he was stationed in Rochester, New York serving individuals under 200% of the poverty level with legal services. After completing his term of service, he joined the Legal Action Center where he worked on issues involving anti-discrimination and breaches of confidentiality.

Michael earned his J.D. from City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law. During law school, he participated in the Moot Court Program, Trial Advocacy, and Law Review. He won several awards including the first place and best oralist awards at the CUNY Moot Court Summer Competition and the Elaine Jackson Stack Moot Court Competition. He also worked in the Department of Justice Criminal Antitrust Division as a recipient of the New York State Bar Association Antitrust fellowship, and was selected as part of the United States Attorney General’s Summer Law Internship Program (SLIP) where he worked in Washington, D.C. at the Department of Justice Criminal Tax Division, Criminal Enforcement Northern.

Following law school, Michael worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. His practice focused primarily on gun and gang violence. During his tenure at the District Attorney’s office, he was involved in all stages of litigation, including arraignment, case screening and assessment, indictment, hearing and trial, and sentencing.

At Aaronson Rappaport, Michael’s practice focuses on medical malpractice defense litigation, representing the area’s most prominent hospitals, physicians, and specialty groups.

Michael is admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
